"Calls are coming in every few minutes," says dispatcher Ron Hinderliter.
Most of the time the conversation starts with "It's cold in my house already and we need you out here now," says Ron. Today Covenants teams of experts are out all over central Illinois working on furnaces and replacing old units. If the call is not about heat it is about broken pipes.
At a home in Pekin, Chad Richmond tells us that preventative maintenance is really the best way to avoid problems. However, in some cases, replacement units are needed when a system gets too old.
Dave Brienen says if you neglect to keep up, it can lead to "Carbon Monoxide issues, things getting plugged up, pipes freezing and different things like that."
This week with below freezing temperatures, Covenant crews will be working extra hours to keep up with demand.
In many cases, customers are so happy to see help arrive they even show some warm feelings.
"Yes, we've had people want to hug us" says Adam Meyering.
An inspection of your furnace should be done at least once a year. That's really the best way to make sure you don't get into trouble.
